WooMe?
I signed up for WooMe based on the TechCrunch invite giveaway, and I kind of have no idea what it is. It looks like an online speed-dating thing via voice/cam, but who knows. Eh, I’ll check it out a bit more later. Link (woome.com)

A reimagining of the wizard of oz, starting December 2nd. It looks really interesting, although the website is kind of schticky. I enjoy anything Zooey Deschanel is in though, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled.

disappearing staircase
rather ingenious design, except it’s missing a railing. i wonder how quickly those stairs shoot in/out too.. it would suck if someone pressed the button (or whatever activates it) while you were on the stairs. maybe there’d be a proximity sensor to prevent that though. if they could make the stairs less conspicuous too, that would be sweet. i’m imagining an entirely empty room...

8-Minute Assassin's Creed Gameplay Video →
it’s shaping up to be a fun game. the combat part was a little slow, to be honest, but the acrobatics were quite entertaining to watch. i’m probably going to purchase a console soon, and well, i think AC might be one of the factors in that determination…

The 6 Most Terrifying Foods in the World →
OK, let me preface this link by saying I really, really REALLY like food. Also, nothing on the other side of this link has made me lose my appetite. But I think it’s crazy the #1 dish is a Filipino dish and is as shocking as it is. I texted my mom and asked her if I’d ever eaten it in my childhood, but she reaffirmed that I hadn’t. Whew. If you’d like a captivating...

Gyabo!
I spent a good part of this weekend watching the live-action predecessor to what may be my favorite anime series of all time: Nodame Cantabile. In short, it largely surpassed my expectations and my fond memories of its anime-counterpart. Hence I’ve ordered the DVD box set online — which, un/fortunately is a bootleg, but that was the only way of getting English subtitles and a region-free...

An Event Apart: Day 2
Annnnnd here’s the schedule again. The second day was a lot more straightforward. Maybe it’s because I’m feeling better today and got more sleep; or, maybe it’s because today started off with Doug Bowman speaking (hint: it’s the latter). The swag was Adobe stickers and a copy of Adobe Web Design Premium (30-day trial, Mac). What I’m taking away with me from...

An Event Apart: Day 1
Here’s the schedule. (aneventapart.com)p>So far there have been three amazing presentations by Eric Meyer (CSS), Jason Santa Maria (Design) and Jeffrey Zeldman (UI). I feel like such an amateur at this conference because everyone else seems to be a professional web designer. I’m a web developer right now, but someday I’ll live the dream — to be working at my own pace,...
