100 Classic Video Game Cupcakes (via wil wheaton)

This is incredible. Every so often you see one of those geek cakes or gamer pastries that make you go “that’s so cool! but i wish they would do too”. Almost all of those wishlist games are on these cupcakes.

I’m in geekphoria <3 and slightly hungry.

Pac-man Explained (via reddit)

rooktakesqueen:

I had a course in video game design and AI in graduate school. One of the first things the professor (who is awesome) asked us to do was… “Describe Pac-Man.”
Most of our responses talked about the game mechanics, the fact that the player travels through a series of mazes filled with dots, the player tries to “eat” all the dots by moving over them, and is chased by four ghosts, who can be eaten for a short time if the player eats a Power Pill placed in several locations in the maze, etc.
He then said to us, that’s true, but that’s only part of the answer. If he’d given the same question to a philosophy or literary criticism class, rather than a class full of engineers, their response may have been something like “Pac-Man is a metaphor for the futility of modern life. The player exists only to consume the maximum amount of material posessions possible, and the game can never be won, it only gets faster and more difficult with each stage until the player inevitably dies.”

Let me explain —once again— the concept of the 8-Bit Dynamic Life Shirt ($24.99): you wear one and give one to your partner. Then whenever you both are “in range”, the pixilated hearts start glowing to full charge. This means your beloved is somewhere nearby and you can go over and give him/her a hug! When you are out of range the glowing hearts dip to two and a half. Essentially you either need to pick up two T-Shirts or one T-Shirt and a transmitter for the concept to work. Replicating the life power of your fav gaming hero, the hearts on the Tee indicate your life/love status: weird but cute!

Mass Effect 2 Voice Cast Reveal Video

There are so many big-name voice actors in this game! I didn’t think it possible, but now I’m even more excited for ME2’s release.

Oh god, it’s like an OMGPOP for Tetris variations. And it’s way too fun: it has real-time multiplayer, achievements and bonuses, and lots of personalized avatars. They’ve definitely got the addiction formula down pat.

Man Beats World of Warcraft; Silent, Virtual Clapping Ensures

elliotttt:nickmaynard:

A Taiwanese man has been named the first ever person to successfully “complete” World of Warcraft, collecting the game’s staggering 986 Achievements to effectively do everything there is to do in the hugely successful MMO. This is literally the most amazing news of the day.

‘Little Gray” beat the game after killing 390,895 creatures, administering 7,255,538,878 points of damage, completing 5,906 quests (averaging 14 quests a day), raiding 405 dungeons and hugging 11 players.

This [secret] changed my life a few years ago: The second controller controls the duck on Duck Hunt.

We found out by accident in college. We were sitting around, drinking, playing Duck Hunt (naturally), and after the duck got stuck on the side of the screen, we realized that our friend was sitting on the controller and the controller would control the direction the duck flew.

We proceeded to turn it into an extremely fun drinking game.
